Why we love it
A well-structured Malbec Reserva, dense and tense, expressing the freshness of the estate’s high-altitude terroir.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red in colour with purple reflections. A complex nose of red berries, cloves and black pepper, along with some delicate notes of chocolate and coffee from the oak. On the palate, spice combines with red-berry fruit and toasted notes. Structured with ripe tannins and a long finish.
Food pairing
Pair with grilled red meats, a rib-eye steak or pizza.
Additional information
Bodega Piedra Negra is situated in the foothills of the Andes at an altitude of 1,100 metres above sea level.
The grapes were hand picked. The wine was fermented at between 25°C and 30°C with daily pumping over. After fermentation, there was an extended period of maceration designed to achieve a high level of concentration and a full-bodied structure. The wine was aged for between eight and 10 months in second-use French-oak barriques.
