The Lamy family has been working the vines in Saint-Aubin in Burgundy since 1640. Today, the Do-maine Hubert Lamy extends over 18.5 hectares spread over the appellations Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay: four villages of the Côte de Beaune recognized for both white and red wines. But Domaine Hubert Lamy is first and foremost a passionate winegrower, Olivier Lamy, who works the vines, vinifies and matures the wines to market them all over the world. Olivier’s wine-making style and preference are to emphasise the fresh and the mineral side of his wines, and in 2016 and 2017 there was no new wood at all, and that is with the wines in 600-litre demi-muids rather than the classic Burgundy (225 litre) fût.

The 2016 Chassagne Montrachet Rouge la Goujonne Rouge has a fragrant bouquet with plenty of red-currant and blackcurrant fruit, well defined and showing more intensity than the Santenay. The palate is well balanced with juicy ripe tannin, crisp acidity, good density with blackcurrant and raspberry toward the focused finish. Very fine.
