Why we love it
The purity of black fruit in harmony with a sumptuous tannic structure – rich, layered and elegant.

Tasting notes
Intense garnet in colour with purple reflections. Bright and limpid, a sign that it continues to flourish. On the nose, expressive notes of black fruit, oak and spice, intensifying with light aeration. On the palate, flavours of black fruit and spices dominate, with notes of liquorice on the persistent finish. Fine and elegant with a juicy tannic structure. Medium to full bodied.

Drinking well now, but should age gracefully for at least another decade.

Food pairing
Serve with classic meat dishes.

Its outstanding-quality wines gained early recognition when it was ranked 2nd Growth in the 1855 classification. Château Léoville Poyferré was acquired by the Cuvelier family in 1920. It is now one of Saint Julien’s finest estates.

The blend of the 2011 vintage is 62.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2.5% Cabernet Franc.
