Otto and Elena Dal Zotto emigrated from Valdobbiadene in 1967, settling down in the King Valley, a few hours’ drive north of Melbourne. Here in the foothills of the relatively cool Victorian Alps, they grew tobacco before turning to vines in 1987. Beginning in the 1990s, Otto introduced the traditional grapes of his Italian homeland, which remain the cornerstones of their range today. Dal Zotto was the pioneer of Australian Prosecco too, making the sparkling wine long before Italian authorities changed the name of the grape to Glera and clamped down on foreign imitations. Now their sons Michael and Christian are in charge of a stunning range of wines, including this: their first vintage of Garganega, the famous grape of Soave.
TASTING NOTES
Explosive aromas of lime zest, lemon, green mango, and sea spray on the nose. A weighty, concentrated palate with intense citrus and green tropical fruits overlaid with assertive, saline-inflected minerality.
FOOD PAIRING
Delicious as an aperitif or for your brunch with fruits and vegetables, seafood, chicken.
