Description

Weinhof Waldschütz was established by the family in 1849. Originally grape farmers in a love affair with the vine, the family moved into winemaking in 1912 and have built a history of tradition and experience at their winery. In 1992, Anton Waldschütz married Elfriede from a neighbouring winery in Wagram and the two wineries came together, showcasing the finest wines from both Kamptal and Wagram. Today their 18 hectares of vines are overseen by 6th generation Ralph Waldschütz, a charming and endlessly enthusiastic winemaker. Grüner Veltliner Fels am Wagram grows exclusively in the area Scheiben, Brunnthal and Hammergraben. These are the core parts of the wine-growing area Wagram. Even the deepest soil layers
consist of pure loess. A combination of various factors such as south-bound vineyards, good water supply, warm winds due to the Pannonian climate, and the vicinity to the temperature-balancing Danube en-able the production of a unique, strong, yet creamy Grüner Veltliner.. This combination benefits the development of aromas in the grapes.

TASTING NOTES

A deep yellow with gold tinting can be spotted. The legs, which disappear only hesitantly from the rim, suggest a rich
wine. As regards smell, this wine reminds one of dried meadow-herbs paired with spiciness and exotic aromas which
remind one of mangoes and papayas. The Grüner Veltliner Fels am Wagram of the winery Waldschütz is richly com-plex on the palate. Its high density is noticeable. A great wine with perfect storage potential!
