Founded in 1956 by peasant winemakers, Gigondas la Cave has, since its creation, developed high-quality wines thanks to the diversity of its terroirs. This diversity of aromas and cultures earned it the Gigondas appellation in 1971. The vines cover approximately 260 hectares located in the town of Vacqueyras , south of the Gigondas vineyard, overlooked by the Dentelles de Montmirail.
TASTING NOTES
Full-bodied and packed with flavour. Bursting with blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry, plum, and a good deal of spice, this is a cracking alternative to Chateauneuf du Pape, and a great match to beefy dishes too.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Serve this Vacqueyras with a casserole dish of vegetables, quail with cherries and Setchouan pepper, beef salad marinated with Provencal herbs, cheese platter.
