Why we love it
An elegant South African red blend from the cool-climate area of Elgin, close to the country’s South-West coast.
Tasting notes
Ruby red in colour. Seductively fruity on the nose with vanilla and cigar-box notes. Complex but elegant on the palate, with fresh, cool-climate acidity. Velvety with flavours of juicy plums and fruit cake, and a long, lingering finish. A rich texture and firm tannins.
Food pairing
Drink with red meats.
Additional information
The grapes were hand picked, sorted and soaked for four days before being fermented. After the first fermentation the grapes were pressed off their skins and moved to French oak barrels (30% new), where malolactic fermentation took place. The wine was matured for 17 months before bottling.
