Hanewald-Schwerdt is a partnership between cousins Thomas and Stephan who are members of ‘Generation Riesling’ a group made up of the best young winemaking talent in Germany. Their focus is on dry wines, primarily made from Riesling and Pinot Noir that express their vintage and vineyard. Kalkriff is the German translation of limestone on which the grapes for this wine are grown. The poor soil and the altitude of 250-280 meters above the sea guarantees a cool & mineral type of Riesling. Low yields and careful processing result in handcrafted, predominantly dry wines. They offer high storage potential and are excellent meal companions.
TASTING NOTES
Citrus and stone fruit flavours with herbal, floral nuances and a chalky minerality.
FOOD PAIRING
Works well with seafood, Asian, Thai, sushi, veggies, garlic and lighter poultry or pork
