Why we love it
A fresh, refined, single-varietal Viura with a lively, fruity palate supported by gentle oak – making lovely summer drinking.
Tasting notes
Lemon yellow in colour. On the nose, notes of apple, pear, lime and peach, with some richer notes from a year’s maturation in large oak barrels on the lees. Medium bodied with medium acidity and rounded flavours of citrus, green fruits and stone fruits.
Food pairing
A good partner for mild coconut curries, simply grilled fish, a tuna salad or garlicky prawns.
Additional information
MacRobert & Canals is a small, family-owned winery established through the integration of Bryan MacRobert, a South African oenologist, into the Canals family, who have lived in Rioja for over 40 years. The winery’s aim is to produce wines that show the diversity of Rioja’s soils, vineyards and climates, while respecting the environment.
The grape for this wine came from low-yield, old vines. The wines was barrel fermented and aged for one year in large oak barrels.
