Why we love it
An archetypal high-end Rioja Reserva – clean and precise – in a value-for-money magnum size.

Tasting notes
Cherry red in colour. Intensely aromatic on the nose, with notes of ripe fruit, balsamic, tobacco, caramel and vanilla. Well-rounded, intense and warm on the palate with smooth tannins, well-balanced acidity and a lingering aftertaste.

Food pairing
Pair with red and white meat dishes, particularly roasts.

Additional information
The grapes come from vines planted over 40 years ago in clay-lime soils in the maker’s Haro vineyards.

Alcoholic fermentation took place over 15 days at a controlled temperature of below 28°C. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally over a 94-day period. In March 2012, the selected wines were transferred to American-oak barrels (on average three years old). During the three years of ageing, the wine was decanted every six months using the traditional barrel-to-barrel gravity method. It was bottled in July 2015.

The blend is 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo (Carignan).
