Barbadillo is the South and it is the Sea. It is Cadiz and it is the westerly winds. It is Sanlúcar and it is tradition. It is a centenary winery, yet it is the future. Barbadillo’s history dates back to 1821. With their own vineyards that stretch over 500 hectares, 16 ageing wineries in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and a red and white winemaking plant, Barbadillo is one of the largest wineries in the Marco de Jerez vineyard area. The Amontillado wines are the most interesting of the Jerez wines. They are firstly aged biologically as a Manzanilla under the velum of flor yeast for 8 years before undergoing a further 7 years of oxidative ageing. The Amontillado Principe boasts extraordinary nuances, which are the result of this 15-year ageing process.
TASTING NOTES
Beautiful amber in colour. Clean and bright. Intense, elegant and seductive on the nose. Underlying saline, hazelnut and roasted notes.Well-balanced and structured, leaving a long after-taste. We can appreciate the typical dryness of the amontillado wines that makes them all the more complex. Good after-taste.
