Description

This family business is into its fifth generation after brothers Alexander and Martin took over from their father Norbert in 2011. The brothers set out on a radical, even controversial path to show German wines in a new and irreverent light. Their names and labels of course captured people’s attention – their wines have featured pit-side at the German Grand Prix – but behind the anecdotes and jokes are brilliantly made wines from the rolling hills of the Pfalz and their vineyards in and around Landau-Nussdorf. All grapes come from the Bauer farm, which comprises numerous vineyard sites around the town of Neustadt. Some lie right on the border with Alsace, making the wines from this region not dissimilar in style.

TASTING NOTES

A dry Riesling with a crisp acidity and expressive peach and lychee fruit. The classic style of Pfalz
Riesling which is relatively warm region for Germany. Crisp and fresh, with those typical
flavours of citrus fruits, minerality and some crunchy green apples. A refreshing dry finish too.

FOOD PAIRING

Asian, Indian and, of course, German-style dishes. Mild Indian curries, slightly spicy Thai noodles, sashimi and sushi, grilled and poached white fish, scallops, gravlax, roast pork with mustard sauce and ham
