Description

The Flametree Winery is located at the gateway to the Margaret River Wine Region on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay, Western Australia. Flametree Wines’ vision is to produce brilliant Australian wines of uncompromising quality and character, as reflected in the 5 red-star rating consistently achieved from James Halliday since 2011. Award-winning winemaker, Cliff Royle, selects exceptional quality fruit from throughout the Margaret River wine region, to produce beautifully hand-crafted wines with unique flavour, structure and depth. After overnight cold storage, the Chardonnay fruit was whole bunch pressed into French oak puncheons before undergoing full wild yeast fermentation. The SRS Chardonnay was barrel fermented in 35% new French puncheons and then aged for 10 months. They then stirred the lees and inoculated 20% of barrels for MLF.

TASTING NOTES

Citrus oil, floral notes, dried pear and grapefruit aromas are well supported by subtle French oak. The palate is textured yet fine, finishing dry and savoury, this is a direct result of wild ferments with turbid juices. Drink as a young wine or cellar in the medium term.
