Verena and Rudy Kiss are the 6th generation of the Kiss (Pronounced GIISCH) family to work the vines BUT the first generation to work their full-time. Rudolf’s relatives started the winery in 1837, a wine cellar of just 20 square meters. They cultivate 10 hectares on the Leitha mountain, 301 m tall with a lot of special soil types, Their philosophy is making wines that are low intervention while being close to nature. So they practice organic methods but are not organic certified. All their red wines are from old vines which are worked 100% by hand.

The wine produced is from 22-year-old vines from the Trift vineyard and is one of the best top quality St. Laurent around and is unusual in that it’s oaked.

A multi layered wine with a powerful bouquet, some fine smoke, lots of tertiary meaty, savoury notes followed by some dark spicy fruit. It’s definitely the more animal side of St. Laurent

Gamey style foods, wild pigeon, venison, wild boar
