Why we love it
A pure expression of Cabernet Franc grown on volcanic soil in the southernmost end of the Bolgheri region of Tuscany.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red in colour. On the nose, expressive aromas of black and red fruits, followed by deep mineral notes. On the palate, fresh and pleasantly savoury with concentrated black-fruit flavours, hints of tobacco, liquorice and undergrowth, and well-integrated tannins.
Food pairing
A excellent pairing for charcuterie, sausages, steak or beef.
Additional information
The Tenuta Meraviglia estate is at the southernmost end of the Bolgheri denomination. The grapes for this wine come from 30 hectares of organically cultivated vineyard at 150 metres above sea level with south-west exposure towards the coast and the cooling sea breezes. The soil is of volcanic origin, rich in minerals and stones.
Fermentation occurred naturally in concrete vats with natural yeasts at a controlled temperature of between 26 and 28°C. After about two weeks of fermentation, the wine was racked into large, untoasted French-oak barrels, where it remained for 12 months prior to bottling. It was then kept in bottle for three months before release.
