Why we love it
An excellent traditional claret for this price point – rich, complex, well balanced and refined.
Tasting notes
Pale ruby red in colour. On the nose, aromas of warm black fruits with notes of tobacco, cloves and wood. The palate has a fresh, supple, fruity character, along with pleasantly chewy tannins and a gently spicy finish.
Drink now and over the next decade.
Food pairing
A good partner for roast poultry, mushroom dishes and pressed, raw-milk cheeses like Manchego and Ossau-Iraty.
Additional information
Château Cantemerle is a Cinquième Cru Classé, with the vineyard covering around 90 hectares in Haut-Médoc.
This is the first wine of the estate. It was aged for 12 months in French oak (35% new), followed by a further four months in vats prior to bottling.
