Why we love it
An elegant, lightly oaked, food-friendly Chardonnay – produced with grapes sourced from a group of Essex growers.
Tasting notes
Light gold in colour. On the nose, creamy green apple and red apple, peach and a hint of mango, along with toasty notes. Rounded on the palate with nice weight. Ripe stone-fruit characters combine with the subtle creaminess of the oak to create layers of flavour and complexity.
Food pairing
An excellent food wine – try with poultry, white meats or pasta dishes.
Additional information
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine were sourced from a group of growers in Essex. A long, hot summer in 2020 enabled the grapes to ripen fully on the vine, resulting in body and intensity of flavour.
The wine was fermented in a mixture of stainless steel and oak at cool temperatures with selected Burgundy yeast strains used to enhance complexity, stone-fruit and floral characters and minerality. Following alcoholic fermentation there was full malolactic fermentation and extended fine lees ageing with some lees stirring.
